CIB Montana Protection Policy

"Whether you are a construction employer--employee, buyer--investor, home--project owner, builder--developer, contractor/trades--professional, or state--federal government agency procurement department representative or build/design team: you are a construction industry stakeholder." The CIB Montana, provides the construction industry stakeholders with: monitored oversight, accountability, transparency, consumer protection, and corporate responsibility. The CIB Montana Risk Management reporting is immediate access to contractor/trades and professionals work-history and project/property reference information on any phase of the construction process.
The CIB Montana supports the adoption of transparency and access to information standards and legislation *not only as an integral part of a basic system of human rights- but as a way to ensure that private-public business is conducted with minimised corruption risks, namely by giving citizens and communities the ability to make informed decisions, thus allowing them the opportunity to fully participate in and benefit from the construction process with less risk, loss, or damage to person and property.
Oversight: 1 a: watchful and responsible care b: regulatory supervision, 2: an inadvertent omission or error. Separation of powers (checks and balances) - the concept of separate branches of government or agencies exercising authority over one another (balance of power).
Accountability: is a concept in ethics with several meanings. Answerability, enforcement, responsibility, blameworthiness, and liability related to problems in both the public and private (corporation) worlds. Accountability is defined as "A is accountable to B when A is obliged to inform B about A*s (past or future) actions and decisions, to justify them, and to suffer punishment in the case of eventual misconduct". In leadership roles, accountability is the acknowledgment and assumption of responsibility for actions, products, decisions, and policies including the administration, governance and implementation, encompassing the obligation to report, explain and be answerable for resulting consequences.
Transparency: a metaphor implying visibility in contexts related to the behavior of individuals or groups. "Transparency" can be defined as a principle that allows those affected by administrative decisions, business transactions or charitable work to know not only the basic facts and figures but also the mechanisms and processes.
Consumer Protection: laws are designed to ensure fair competition and the free flow of truthful information in the marketplace. The laws are designed to prevent businesses that engage in fraud or specified unfair practices from gaining an advantage over competitors and may provide additional protection for the weak and unable to take care of themselves. Consumer Protection laws are a form of government regulation which protects the interests of consumers. For example, a government may require businesses to disclose detailed information about products ***particularly in areas where safety or public health is an issue, such as food. Consumer protection is linked to the idea of "consumer rights" (that consumers have various rights as consumers), and to the formation of consumer organizations which help consumers make better choices in the marketplace. |
